Luxury's price hikes prove you can grow sales without winning more customers.
I think luxury’s next customer acquisition problem is platform access, even as price increases sustain revenue. Agentic shopping makes the choice of distribution partners a decision about who gets to recommend your products.
Amazon blocked Meta’s Muse from browsing and buying, while Shopify will integrate with it. That split matters when Daniel Langer attributes 80% of luxury growth to price increases: revenue growth tells us little about success in winning customers. Brand desirability is the strongest defence, but an agent barred from a platform cannot buy there.
Next quarter, I would test a jewellery assortment through Muse on Shopify and track new customers separately from revenue. Give those products accurate specifications and compare acquisition costs with existing channels before expanding the assortment.
